The MZ2Q magnetic cylinder sensor: once mounted, twice taught-in, endlessly switched
Waldkirch, November 2006 – “Teach me twice” is the new MZ2Q’s motto. The magnetic cylinder sensor, which fits into all common housing slots, offers two freely adjustable switching points in a single device. The advantages that this “2 in 1” sensor concept offers users include greater functional reliability with rapid piston movements, two-fold final position detection in miniature cylinders, or the precise detection of differing gripper positions.
Two freely adjustable switching points in one sensor – that means occupying just one slot, lower installation costs, and less wiring on the pneumatic cylinder. And the switching points are easily taught-in – the sensor is therefore rapidly ready for action. The compact sensor housing permits completely sunken, and thus protected, installation in the slot. The short housing even allows the solving of miniature applications in very short cylinders.
Position determination and object detection
An important target application of the MZ2Q is object detection on grippers, clamps or presses in which a pneumatic cylinder with an extension of up to 50 mm acts as an actuator. Here the sensor allows both end positions to be reliably queried. Moreover, the MZ2Q is also suitable for applications in which the second switching point means a significant improvement in functional reliability. An advance signal can be used for targeted reduction of piston speed before, for example, a piston reaches its final position: switching point 1 decelerates the movement, switching point 2 confirms that the end position has been reached.
Interesting for many target markets
Its features – and above all the two separate switching points – make the MZ2Q an interesting solution in a variety of target markets and applications, e.g. the pneumatics industry, producers of material handling systems, the electronics industry, the packaging industry, and special machine construction in general.
